If you're returning to work, it's important to discuss certain boundaries with your clients. This is hard BUT needed. This could include establishing clear communication about your schedule, times when they can reach out to you and outlining your expectations for accommodations, such as pumping breaks or flexible hours (if you are in office). </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Lastly, don’t forget! Remember to prioritize self-care. I'm currently failing at this. First time around man… this was ALSO hard. Setting boundaries is not only about protecting your time and energy, but also about recognizing your own needs. Take time for yourself, whether it's through friendships, exercise, relaxation, or social activities. I know everyone can't do this because they don't have help… but try.
Setting boundaries can be difficult, but it's essential for establishing a healthy environment for you and your new baby. Good Luck mamas!</div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-58177526763584755282024-01-24T23:10:00.010-05:002024-01-25T14:30:35.761-05:00Check out Irresistible Me! <div style="text-align: center;">New year - new me! It's been fun. I've had the opportunity to have some cool experiences and bring my whole family along. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCaLeDL6qfc7bKJPfwQvZmFyxrGDzDEv2Khs7QrgGH31Qd0JSBn6Gurs-c3v0CdZAiTmdhe2DKXEJHMtL1Q5_bip4ZoXp-J_qmk6MpZoT0ruMqqefXA9tC0VUefRC3_UEHAjxrtGmE0a-ebLKEQtx7sDFsk2RHqFKJwuTdRF1fFJC7UHnAB-j1bxdefgzT/s620/maxi-cosi%20mom1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="620" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCaLeDL6qfc7bKJPfwQvZmFyxrGDzDEv2Khs7QrgGH31Qd0JSBn6Gurs-c3v0CdZAiTmdhe2DKXEJHMtL1Q5_bip4ZoXp-J_qmk6MpZoT0ruMqqefXA9tC0VUefRC3_UEHAjxrtGmE0a-ebLKEQtx7sDFsk2RHqFKJwuTdRF1fFJC7UHnAB-j1bxdefgzT/w388-h400/maxi-cosi%20mom1.jpg" width="388" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Some mommy blogging tips!</i></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">First and foremost, it's important to have a clear understanding of your audience. Identify your niche and your target audience. For example: Black moms in Canada or breast feeding moms in USA.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Next, focus on building relationships. Networking/connecting is essential. Plus it can all be done online(if you're shy). Go to mommy events, connect with other bloggers/content creators/influencers, and engage with PR/brands through social media. YUP! Hop in those DMs. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">It's about building long-term partnerships/relationships. Support their content and they will support you.
Always know your stats. Such as audience demographics, engagement rates, and any previous collaborations you may have had with other brands. For example, my reach is high in USA and CANADA but I know I can reach readers in UK and India. Cool right!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Last but not least, always follow up/re-connect. It's important to remember that support may not happen overnight, so be persistent but not pushy. Also know that no's will come. It sucks but apart of life.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Brush it off and go!</div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-18436905628508849802023-08-04T21:32:00.005-04:002023-08-04T21:32:59.350-04:00Staying positive during pregnancy <div style="text-align: center;">Baby #2 is on her way!
Pregnancy can be an amazing but also a challenging time. No one reminded me that doing all this with a child is WORK!! Also with so many physical and emotional changes happening, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or negative at times. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWnSZ0F6TStJQF56RLnMBhwtaGQYs4r_Ev5o5oEltIBstGzv6l2e8sS6t_1uQSrmhUFbEMtx7ZsYjeKmnwK5ar07ubQumprc7q1Vxiks037yTFExvbDpTidXi9qpgDbY-QogN8XD4YxwQxmxlfsvBg_XYqDsoD4RdtCuEuGcuVhU3fABSPEHHe0m3KRpqa/s6240/Pregnant%20Canadian%20mom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4160" data-original-width="6240" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWnSZ0F6TStJQF56RLnMBhwtaGQYs4r_Ev5o5oEltIBstGzv6l2e8sS6t_1uQSrmhUFbEMtx7ZsYjeKmnwK5ar07ubQumprc7q1Vxiks037yTFExvbDpTidXi9qpgDbY-QogN8XD4YxwQxmxlfsvBg_XYqDsoD4RdtCuEuGcuVhU3fABSPEHHe0m3KRpqa/w400-h266/Pregnant%20Canadian%20mom.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> Here are some tips to help you stay positive during your pregnancy. *I'm using them too: </span></div><span></span><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 1. Surround Yourself with Support:</b></span></div><div>Lean on your partner, friends, and family for encouragement and support. Connect with other moms-to-be, and seek out positive influences that lift your mood. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>2. Take Care of Yourself: </b></span></div><div>Eat healthy, get enough sleep, and try to get around regularly. Taking care of your body can help improve your mental health. I hate saying it... but it's true. Also don't forget your water!!!</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>3. Focus on the Good: </b></span></div><div>It's important to acknowledge and validate your emotions, but try to focus on the positive aspects of your pregnancy. Write down and reflect on what you're excited about and grateful for.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>4. Practice Mindfulness: </b></span></div><div>Being present in the moment can help reduce stress and anxiety. Girl so many random situations happen daily. Or tests that don't go as planned- or negative thoughts creep in! Try you're best not to freak out. Just because something happened to a friend DOESN'T mean it will happen to you.</div><div><br /></div><div><b><span style="font-size: large;">5. Treat Yourself: </span></b></div><div>Take some time to pamper yourself every now and then. This can be as simple as taking a relaxing bath, getting a prenatal massage, or a cute salon trip! Something i did this week. </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Please enjoy the beautiful journey of bringing new life into the world.</b></span></div></div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-20517237682876380912023-07-23T00:26:00.006-04:002023-07-23T00:28:25.664-04:00Let's go thrifting for baby clothes!<div style="text-align: center;">Are you on the hunt for some great deals on baby clothes? </div><div style="text-align: center;">Thrifting can be a great way to save money while also finding some unique and stylish pieces.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7WSEebt8AFq1s3vkavaLaF1Zyx5-PgVdG1DDQHW3GZ3eiJyDy14J6vMxot-I3tr2E0Ns9HdkQIV8b2TNaEQQDO6nL9yDf401OJh5hVaLYYHFT2rRDPprdniOW2wJYLC9lzSn8zSfIW947KJysj8GAwHm4S3o7VqvxUMuty1khfqPu3q3iVmgYu90a7cr0/s2048/black%20canadian%20mom.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1362" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7WSEebt8AFq1s3vkavaLaF1Zyx5-PgVdG1DDQHW3GZ3eiJyDy14J6vMxot-I3tr2E0Ns9HdkQIV8b2TNaEQQDO6nL9yDf401OJh5hVaLYYHFT2rRDPprdniOW2wJYLC9lzSn8zSfIW947KJysj8GAwHm4S3o7VqvxUMuty1khfqPu3q3iVmgYu90a7cr0/w400-h266/black%20canadian%20mom.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Here are a few things to keep in mind when thrifting for baby clothes. </b></span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 1. Check for stains and signs of wear: </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Make sure to thoroughly inspect each item for any stains, rips, or other signs of wear and tear. </div><div style="text-align: center;">It's also a good idea to give everything a good wash before putting it on your baby. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 2. Look for quality fabrics: </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">While thrifted clothes may not always be name-brand or designer, you can still find high-quality pieces if you know what to look for. Keep an eye out for clothes made from natural and breathable fabrics like cotton or wool. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 3. Consider the season: </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Thrift stores may have a mix of current and past season clothes, so make sure to keep the current weather in mind when shopping. You don't want to stock up on winter outfits if your baby will be outgrowing them in a few weeks! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 4. Think beyond gender-specific clothing: </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Don't be afraid to shop outside of the "boys" or "girls" sections of the thrift store. Many baby clothes are unisex and can be worn by either gender, so keep an open mind when browsing. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Happy thrifting!</div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-75596391143962569352023-07-10T20:26:00.001-04:002023-07-10T20:27:06.361-04:00What To Ask on Your Daycare Tour?<div style="text-align: center;">Ava started daycare when she was 17 months. And I was very reluctant on sending her. Why? I worked from home and felt like I had to keep her home. BUT the truth was she needed little friends. Something that I couldn't give her (being an only child). So we started daycare part-time so she could have the best of both worlds. A bit of time with friends her age and home with mommy.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguoaq7TfgQhEAosaXxMSA-mA-h0L53j-cPsCMF1fxzzcT0PNol6kxA_lJcGGYp4O_62Hr3FO-hB2lJnrFyUWWLDgxnLXXTwRLaHIFmCZGBcFlt5Xng3qT9FJmIJH9jyspg8Ur9UD0ysmCKcOnD7ve6iuKN3SFyOH8-ZyxdfMPzW7zHxUVmMwnbdUCHJMWB/s4032/Canadian%20toddler.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguoaq7TfgQhEAosaXxMSA-mA-h0L53j-cPsCMF1fxzzcT0PNol6kxA_lJcGGYp4O_62Hr3FO-hB2lJnrFyUWWLDgxnLXXTwRLaHIFmCZGBcFlt5Xng3qT9FJmIJH9jyspg8Ur9UD0ysmCKcOnD7ve6iuKN3SFyOH8-ZyxdfMPzW7zHxUVmMwnbdUCHJMWB/w300-h400/Canadian%20toddler.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>When it comes to picking a daycare every family has different needs, so you should know what is important to you way before you step foot into a facility.
These might be small BUT very important questions to ask your daycare provider. </b></span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> What Is Their Policy On Pacifiers? </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Some daycares let kids use pacifiers until 20 months. Ava's allowed them at nap-time but EVENTUALLY we had to stop. Which went way better than I thought. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> How Long Do The Children Play Outside? </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> You have to ask them about the timings and how long they let the kids play outside. Ours did around 2-3 times outside for an hour. Depending on the weather conditions (of course). </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> Sample Food Menu </b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Also, check the food menu and what they give to the babies and children in their daycare centre. Mine asked for allergies from the beginning interview. They provided me with a month worth of meals that they were feeding her which made me feel at ease. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Your child's teacher is the person your kid will spend most of the time with. We went with our facility because we had the warmest teacher take Ava and she didn't cry at all. it was like she knew her. That's when we knew we made the right choice.
It was a positive and loving environment that I could see her thrive in.

Your priorities and schedules shift, and it's natural for some friendships to fall by the wayside. Now we’re focusing on changing diapers, making play dates and keeping sane LOL! </div><div><br /></div><div>Instead of dwelling on the loss, try to focus on the friendships that have grown stronger since becoming a parent. My situation is different but I’m so thankful for my small group of friends and my online community. Plus new friends who are going through similar things. We count on each other for advice and support.
If you're feeling lonely or isolated, consider seeking out new parent groups in your community. </div><div><br /></div><div>Another favourite is Facebook mom groups. Girl they can get wild at times BUTTTTT overall it’s a supportive network of people who are going through similar experiences as you. </div><div><br /></div><div>Finally, don't feel guilty for letting go of friendships that are no longer serving you. It's okay to prioritize your family and your own wellbeing. I say this to say don’t feel like you have to give everything up. I have friends who don’t have kids who are up to date with Ava more than others LOL. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Losing friends after having kids can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be the end of the world. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Don’t forget to check out my <a href="https://www.spicedbeauty.com/2023/01/three-quick-ways-to-make-mom-friends.html#more" target="_blank"><span style="color: red; font-size: large;">how to make mom friends </span></a>post.</div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-77680808819838477962023-05-30T23:37:00.002-04:002023-07-10T20:28:43.709-04:00Clear Aligners vs. Braces - My Thoughts<div style="text-align: center;">I'm 20 months into my aligner journey. Such a tricky decision when you're in you 30's. At first, I tried to figure out which option was best for me: braces or clear aligners.
Both have their pros and cons, and ultimately, the decision comes down to your personal preference. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvAD7WGw33kLe3vRZfD90iB-iW7EjDUY-K6A_P50TxGd5Xlgk0Qjr_wLEPMAL7V7svXHIJ-sEq6CNpYyX6iow_Yp-JQxYZf32SSXz36KcuZPGN2uC75pdw82z7_IXh9Oz6_TuQdPAK3g9UEURM3gKaki_b9D5r2V2P5S_oVup48F8f680Y3aYXutMNJw/s6000/clear%20aligners%20in%20canada.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="6000" data-original-width="4000" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvAD7WGw33kLe3vRZfD90iB-iW7EjDUY-K6A_P50TxGd5Xlgk0Qjr_wLEPMAL7V7svXHIJ-sEq6CNpYyX6iow_Yp-JQxYZf32SSXz36KcuZPGN2uC75pdw82z7_IXh9Oz6_TuQdPAK3g9UEURM3gKaki_b9D5r2V2P5S_oVup48F8f680Y3aYXutMNJw/w266-h400/clear%20aligners%20in%20canada.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Come with me while I take you through my thought process.</span></b></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Appearance </b></span></div><div>Braces are metal brackets and wires that are visible and tightened.
Clear aligners, on the other hand, are made to be invisible and custom-made to fit your teeth. They are made of a clear, flexible plastic material that fits over the teeth and gradually moves them into the desired position. Biggest pro for me is that they can be taken off for eating and brushing.
Both braces and clear aligners are effective at correcting teeth. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Treatment time </b></span></div><div>Braces typically take anywhere from 18 months to 3 years for treatment, depending on the severity of the case. Mine started at 22 months but I feel like I will have them on for longer. I personally feel like if I got metal it would have been a shorter time.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Maintenance </b></span></div><div>Maintaining braces and clear aligners is an important part of the overall orthodontic treatment process.
Braces require regular visits to the orthodontist for adjustments and tightening. Patients must also keep their braces clean by brushing around them and flossing carefully.
Clear aligners need to be taken out before eating. Patients must wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day and brush and floss regularly. I didn't want to cut certain foods out of my diet LOL- so clear aligners was the winner.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Cost </b></span></div><div>The cost of braces and clear aligners can vary greatly.
Traditional metal braces are often the most affordable option. Clear aligners, on the other hand, tend to be more expensive than traditional braces. The cost of clear aligners can range depending on the complexity. I already had to get my aligners corrected since I was having an issue with fitting.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Clear aligners can also be a great option if you wish to have a more discreet treatment option. BUT I know that the metal braces are the go -to if you're not consistent wearing your aligners.</b></div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-44588414140247767222023-05-17T22:35:00.006-04:002023-05-17T22:35:48.237-04:00Pregnancy Skincare Must Haves <div style="text-align: center;">Congratulations on your pregnancy mama! It is a wonderful time of your life when you experience a lot of changes, both physical and emotional. With Ava my skin was really good until after birth. Here are a few things you may experience.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyBT2lj7GZjfYSxYkMGEPzoTt60h8whoeQWi9hhmCRloRI2fi4_XKb0eMYoSu-OcGPPBMM10Nk7UxCsrIzjcwgzDiV-1oIRDfVsRy9tiHW9BTnHKFqgrig7z0lG6xr0CViBNONsEYWNnZBk96W6lyP1buuhUsOg13pWG9fNjNs9AzIrhlQkyIYvui4JA/s2048/Benefits%20of%20Adding%20a%20Serum%20to%20Your%20Skincare%20Routine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1367" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyBT2lj7GZjfYSxYkMGEPzoTt60h8whoeQWi9hhmCRloRI2fi4_XKb0eMYoSu-OcGPPBMM10Nk7UxCsrIzjcwgzDiV-1oIRDfVsRy9tiHW9BTnHKFqgrig7z0lG6xr0CViBNONsEYWNnZBk96W6lyP1buuhUsOg13pWG9fNjNs9AzIrhlQkyIYvui4JA/w268-h400/Benefits%20of%20Adding%20a%20Serum%20to%20Your%20Skincare%20Routine.jpg" width="268" /></a></div><span style="text-align: center;"><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-size: large;">When it comes to your skin, you may notices such as breakouts, stretch marks, and dryness. If you're a part of the lucky bunch who haven't experienced this... how do you like being God's favourite LOL. I'm joking...</span></span><br /><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> I will be sharing some of the must-have skincare products that every pregnant woman should consider adding to their routine. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>1. Sunscreen </b></span></div><div>Sunscreen is an essential part of LIFE! Especially one of your pregnancy skincare must-haves.
Using sunscreen before going outside helps prevent sunburn, premature aging, and even skin cancer from occurring due to the sun's damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Sunscreen can also help reduce the risk of sunburns, which can be particularly uncomfortable during pregnancy. When choosing sunscreen, look for a broad-spectrum formulation with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Additionally, be sure to choose a sunscreen that is free of parabens, phthalates, and other potentially harmful chemicals. </div><div><br /></div><div>Should I share some of my favourite sunscreens?</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>2. Moisturizer </b></span></div><div>During pregnancy, hormones can cause the skin to become dry and itchy.
Moisturizer helps to lock in the skin's natural moisture and protect it from environmental damage. When selecting a moisturizer, look for one that is specifically formulated be free of any harsh chemicals or fragrances.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>3. Cleanser </b></span></div><div>During pregnancy, I found my skin more oily at the end of the day.
The cleanser helps to remove dirt, oil, and bacteria from the skin, while also helping to maintain the skin's natural pH balance. When selecting a cleanser, look for one that is specifically designed for sensitive skin, as it will be gentler on the skin. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>4. Lip Mask</b></span></div><div> You have never seen dry lips until you seen pregnancy lips. Mine were soooo bad omg! I was embarrassed to go out. I'm going to just recommend laneige. Here you can see some of my past posts about it: <a href="https://www.spicedbeauty.com/search/label/LANEIGE?max-results=6" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;"><strike>Laneige Skincare</strike></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">There are a variety of products specifically formulated for pregnancy that address all of our skincare issues without the worry of introducing harmful chemicals to a growing baby. </div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-70837546675303338452023-05-06T17:40:00.003-04:002023-07-10T20:30:21.402-04:00Surviving the fourth Trimester<div style="text-align: center;">When I was told "Beware of the fourth trimester" I had NO idea what people were talking about. But it's an important part for your mental health and wellbeing. The fourth trimester the period after giving birth is a challenging time for parents. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMTK2c1KR5YT-cgJZU0n6iw279hQyNS5M2MjiBHpacMX6AvkySPs91zeJKTm5rpLn_y4PiR-o08GCUXfV-TninzmTrpQ5dG6Pgp-wea4OW--uwL6PL2Q88gP8t6vtg5KEmHF-G1j_em8hhEYjJoGRhedb_uI_LJZCf1GvVMazYhdvrpeVdGgWIrzTaQ/s600/black%20canadian%20mommy%20blogger.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="449" data-original-width="600" height="299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMTK2c1KR5YT-cgJZU0n6iw279hQyNS5M2MjiBHpacMX6AvkySPs91zeJKTm5rpLn_y4PiR-o08GCUXfV-TninzmTrpQ5dG6Pgp-wea4OW--uwL6PL2Q88gP8t6vtg5KEmHF-G1j_em8hhEYjJoGRhedb_uI_LJZCf1GvVMazYhdvrpeVdGgWIrzTaQ/w400-h299/black%20canadian%20mommy%20blogger.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Not only do you have to help your baby adjust to life outside the womb, but you may also find yourself overwhelmed by fatigue, pain, and uncertainty. </b></span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b> Hospital post-partum care </b></span></div><div>The first few days after you've given birth are a time for rest, recovery, and bonding with your new baby. BUT don't forget YOU! Don't forget to eat- sleep and remember that you're just important as your baby. I remember being on the go and neglecting myself. NOT the best feeling. But I'm grateful for my Village. </div><div> </div><div><b><span style="font-size: x-large;">Get a Village </span></b></div><div>The first few weeks at home can be a bit of a whirlwind. You're adjusting to life with a new baby, which is exciting and rewarding, but it can also be overwhelming. I'm go grateful for my village: My mom staying- husband off work- brother/sister in law dropping in. My mother in law coming by. Help is needed. I know not everyone can get it BUT add friends- get a doula. Try your best. There are so many things to learn and so much responsibility that comes with caring for your newborn. </div><div><br /></div><div><b><span style="font-size: x-large;">Keep baby close </span></b></div><div>This one is tricky. I prefer to keep the baby in my room. For one thing, it will help you feel more connected with them. Understand their sleeping pattern, you'll be able to hear if they need anything. It will totally make you less anxious. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Sleep when your baby sleeps?</b></span></div><div>This is easier said than done. For the first few months - I DID NOT. I watched Ava like a hawk. Ate- Did house work-caught up on shows. BUT once she was around 3 months or so I did take little naps here and there and they were so refreshing LOL. </div><div><br /></div><div><i>Remember:</i> The fourth trimester is a time of adjustment for both you and your baby. Please try to have a village. It's important to take care of yourself as much as possible during this period so that you can be there for your child. </div></div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-43461583897522167142023-04-21T00:30:00.001-04:002023-04-21T00:30:00.156-04:00EARTH DAY: Why Thrifting Your Child's Clothes Can Put More Money in Your Pocket This Season <div style="text-align: center;">If you have a little one at home, you know how they keep growing every week! I feel like nothing fits Ava anymore. Shopping at any thrift shop will save you money and allow you to get new outfits for your child at a LOW cost. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl7tEr4-LhJaduJMI-iZU9pNweeNLp3MNIHJQKsx7kwgBWvKV7wSxW2OmP3NyudjMRwFjeAbvB4Kx-R4OekPPm7zTv-A5WHeEOs9L8kcl10H79mtqncQAHDm-dY4PKRIAc1tTI0r3vp6_0Q9D67X10OWOSdEilTN-lxWf88oll4y8UUsjnpolDmy2Fiw/s2048/black%20canadian%20mom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1362" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl7tEr4-LhJaduJMI-iZU9pNweeNLp3MNIHJQKsx7kwgBWvKV7wSxW2OmP3NyudjMRwFjeAbvB4Kx-R4OekPPm7zTv-A5WHeEOs9L8kcl10H79mtqncQAHDm-dY4PKRIAc1tTI0r3vp6_0Q9D67X10OWOSdEilTN-lxWf88oll4y8UUsjnpolDmy2Fiw/w400-h266/black%20canadian%20mom.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here is why thrifting for your child's clothes can be your best option. </span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Thrifting Is Cost-Efficient </b></span></div><div style="text-align: right;">A major benefit is that it's budget-friendly. Usually you can find clothes at a fraction of the price. If you are on a very tight budget or want to save more money, then thrifting is the best choice. Set a budget and GO! </div><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Thrifting Helps The Environment </b></span></div><div style="text-align: right;">Another great benefit of shopping for your little ones' clothes from a third store is that it is highly environmentally friendly. When you shop from a thrift store, you can reduce your carbon footprint since you are purchasing "used" items. Often times these clothes end up in a landfill. </div><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>You Find Unique Pieces </b></span></div><div style="text-align: right;">I've found the cutest pieces for Ava. Pieces where mom's have come up to me asking where I bought the item haha! You never know what you are going to find at the stores, and hence why thrifting is fun. I always find a lot of things with tags on them!</div><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;">Additionally, at SOME of the stores- You can sell your baby's old clothes here and get money towards new ones. Something to keep in mind before you go.</div></div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-11195322782397919222023-04-14T19:18:00.002-04:002023-04-14T19:18:17.666-04:00Hot Thermos Lunch ideas for Kids<div style="text-align: center;">Your kids should be excited about their lunch. And boy times were different back then. It was funner and more carefree. Also things were cheaper and the opportunities were in abundance. That doesn't mean that it should deter you from starting now BUT there are a few things to consider. Starting a channel or blog is expensive. It's easy to feel left out! Especially when you want to get noticed.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFqc-GShTx-_XeYo_vJwftDepwQ-w0FYfPva727DRsthCmgQTn1I9AstdAvdkeU8VKTYMAsreOdwKiDZlvBoMmQScxJeRFAEisE42UvxdSSrTsOh7OL1WhFOsA1KoMcu7u8loZEriyI7Q0QdOpyF8r2huAuinkwl6JoZxN1LcnIz4gpQPmp_i-J3IuQw/s705/Ultra%20HD%20Invisible%20Cover%20Stick%20Foundation%20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="705" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFqc-GShTx-_XeYo_vJwftDepwQ-w0FYfPva727DRsthCmgQTn1I9AstdAvdkeU8VKTYMAsreOdwKiDZlvBoMmQScxJeRFAEisE42UvxdSSrTsOh7OL1WhFOsA1KoMcu7u8loZEriyI7Q0QdOpyF8r2huAuinkwl6JoZxN1LcnIz4gpQPmp_i-J3IuQw/w340-h400/Ultra%20HD%20Invisible%20Cover%20Stick%20Foundation%20.jpg" width="340" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here are some tips to get started from an OG.</span></div><div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Set A budget</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Unfortunately, you can't buy everything. Perhaps you want to create a smokey eye look or a natural everyday makeup look- Let me tell you the drugstore WILL have what you need. That $78 palette can easily collect dust on your shelf.</span></div><span style="font-size: x-large;"><div style="text-align: center;"><b><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IuCuEv8rLud3jTeDC0uKC6wgFR_2rEaAF0WMTs9lfBXfewX02adY8pc7zSaYyOKzWes2ybyqja82vhm0OtlCbFCE9_FCbbv0Jz2g84Nw1Vz55WMrce5KT0ltf-cWz5oP9vkLstHL9goZP2hHO43Nv3lz-rB-lqnYorfAK2bL_6Gh3-k9q2CfVJ4FDQ/s600/ririwoomac.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="493" data-original-width="600" height="329" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IuCuEv8rLud3jTeDC0uKC6wgFR_2rEaAF0WMTs9lfBXfewX02adY8pc7zSaYyOKzWes2ybyqja82vhm0OtlCbFCE9_FCbbv0Jz2g84Nw1Vz55WMrce5KT0ltf-cWz5oP9vkLstHL9goZP2hHO43Nv3lz-rB-lqnYorfAK2bL_6Gh3-k9q2CfVJ4FDQ/w400-h329/ririwoomac.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Free Samples are EVERYWHERE</b></div></span><div style="text-align: center;">If you’re looking savings, you will definitely love this one! Save your points and redeem them for makeup. Ask friends/family for makeup for birthday/Christmas. Especially as a Work from home moms. I want us to know our worth and be able to speak up for ourselves. Pre-baby I made some decisions that were not ideal.Just thinking about it makes me so sick. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWLllQ3J_M0unuWHQp7MNxUlmCNwypR34cmciS3XKCxNeNj5nOTTpbfWXnsAsQN4QjK6odQyz5K3_UptlwzGkildroTg4yMJZEj7sW1Fra11YPAsWNvJYsyu4pkH1twa0TIO01P8aOjdk7Vu1-VDXo5UKfPUXtgPzatO0lPo2uQ89TO7deiQMZXc00Kw/s2048/woman-holding-white-ceramic-mug-at-desk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1605" data-original-width="2048" height="314" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWLllQ3J_M0unuWHQp7MNxUlmCNwypR34cmciS3XKCxNeNj5nOTTpbfWXnsAsQN4QjK6odQyz5K3_UptlwzGkildroTg4yMJZEj7sW1Fra11YPAsWNvJYsyu4pkH1twa0TIO01P8aOjdk7Vu1-VDXo5UKfPUXtgPzatO0lPo2uQ89TO7deiQMZXc00Kw/w400-h314/woman-holding-white-ceramic-mug-at-desk.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I know I sound over dramatic but having my daughter made me smarten up and now make me work for me. </span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br /></div><div> Let me share some tips that I learned: </div><div><span style="font-size: large;">All jobs are disposable</span></div><div>Full-time, part-time or freelance… opportunities come and go.
It's so sad to say but it's 100% true. We have to remember that and act accordingly. Take vacations- set your hours- set your boundaries. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">You can't control the market </span></div><div>If you have been getting steady work be happy and grateful because a lot of people are not.
I'm beyond grateful to be doing the same job since 2009. But this is not everyone's story. COVID was heartbreaking for a lot of people and a lot of people lost their jobs. </div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Work to live</span></div><div>Don't live to work. This one was hard for me to understand for years… but setting hours literally changed that. </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> With that said could you ever fully work from home? </b></span></div></div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-64180435668295400162023-03-16T18:44:00.002-04:002023-04-04T18:52:41.282-04:00Five things I will never do as a first time mom<div style="text-align: center;">Being a first time mom was something. Something good. Something INTERESTING. For one you get to really know who your village is/what its composed of. You get to see your limits- your partner’s limits… sometimes you impress yourself. Other times man it’s a fail. Either way it’s a learning process. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT3eCmjR0tLzK9THdygbK2Pui7xzdYzFE4kG7QFVTMQTZPZHb026yNwz-ZB0yUKRZ3MIj9nKCbx_cls3fg1CiiFeraSAoED6eKjpkIxWVmjePShJm0CNLTo4_uYiOt_AiaqSLIElF1aqap1-jDhW-TmJQR9WE3Kj7QNuKIa1zSOATJpFEE7PyTqqIY7w/s600/halobassinestcanada.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="600" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT3eCmjR0tLzK9THdygbK2Pui7xzdYzFE4kG7QFVTMQTZPZHb026yNwz-ZB0yUKRZ3MIj9nKCbx_cls3fg1CiiFeraSAoED6eKjpkIxWVmjePShJm0CNLTo4_uYiOt_AiaqSLIElF1aqap1-jDhW-TmJQR9WE3Kj7QNuKIa1zSOATJpFEE7PyTqqIY7w/w400-h266/halobassinestcanada.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">So far we have survived 4 years and I'm excited to see my growth in the upcoming years of motherhood. </span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Here are some things I’d never do as a first time mom: </div><div style="text-align: center;">1) Judge you
Unless what you do is horrible. For example – If you want to let your child watch TV all day- eat fast food and ice cream for dinner and you feel like a horrible parent. I bet you that you are NOT. Maybe you’re over stimulated or having a bad mental health day. The light at the end of the tunnel is that the kids are fed and in a warm home. </div><div style="text-align: center;">2) Leave my child anywhere without the facts
I’m sorry but there are way too many weird things going on in society for me to leave my child anywhere without knowing the full story. This includes birthday parties. My little one just started Kindergarten and I swear every two weeks there is a party. I stay… meet the other parents and chill until it’s time to go home. </div><div style="text-align: center;">3) Buy things without a review
100% it’s the reviewer in me. Everything is too damn expensive for me to be buying things and it doesn’t work for my child and me. </div><div style="text-align: center;"> 4) Try to make her live in my shadow
This one is self-explanatory… Whatever she wants to do. We do! That’s it! </div><div style="text-align: center;"> 5) Force food
I’m talking about this one as a west indian… I won’t force anything she isn’t comfortable eating. I will introduce but not force. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> Thank you for reading my thoughts!!!

Are blogs dead? I know if you’re here reading this the answer is no BUT how often do you actually visit a blog? I won’t lie – I don’t visit them as much as I should be that will change this year! <div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtB-doLo6O0kVCmbEXocQetnTbm8qmsn8cX88aJE3eahHk40li538p5uzvI0qY_1LioZ6l9bMUSUFwov63gL8z9GQm_PsP2cv3sLDSY-ZH-Zjxo5nwG1RT616_w-RBa_oGnTD2KlWWUauoXg0c0WI4gdWLkXjitqUipqENDBQhMz020qgHHF_gdOaSGw/s5904/Canadian%20blogger.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5904" data-original-width="3936" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtB-doLo6O0kVCmbEXocQetnTbm8qmsn8cX88aJE3eahHk40li538p5uzvI0qY_1LioZ6l9bMUSUFwov63gL8z9GQm_PsP2cv3sLDSY-ZH-Zjxo5nwG1RT616_w-RBa_oGnTD2KlWWUauoXg0c0WI4gdWLkXjitqUipqENDBQhMz020qgHHF_gdOaSGw/w426-h640/Canadian%20blogger.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Let’s get back to blogging! </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span><a name='more'></a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div> I miss getting alerts that my favourite bloggers have published something new. I’ve even discovered new bloggers in my country from simple keywords.
Like “Canadian Beauty Blogger” or “Toronto Beauty Blogger back in 2010. Now my searches are more specific like “ Canadian Mom Blogger in Canada” or “Staring Kindergarten in Ontario”…crazy how life changes. Anyways I truly miss long form content.
I’m also so happy to see so many people go back to blogging after leaving for so many years. Myself included kind of… in 2013 I put out 208 blog posts! In 2022, I put out a lousy 11. No I didn’t forget any zeros… ELEVEN. This year, I hope to put out at LEAST one a week- worst case scenario 2 a month.
When my blog was popping. Boy was it ranking HIGH. That’s one thing NONE could take away from me. Here are my quick tips on how I did it. </div><div><br /></div><div> 1. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Update it </b></span></div><div>Sounds simple but consistency is KEY! Remember 2013 was 208 blog posts. Although it was a different time- Engaged, Lived at home and No real responsibilities. I have to try to do something close… shoot even HALF with my busy life. Back to consistency… Find a schedule and stick to it! Batch write your posts and pick dates for them to go out. Just do anything to keep you on the ball. </div><div>2. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Find your Niche </b></span></div><div>What’s the audience that you’re trying to expose yourself to? My audience is all OVER the place. I love beauty- I love toddlerhood –I love weddings. I just love lifestyle as a whole. </div><div>3. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Get Social! </b></span></div><div>A facebook (yeah… I know) twitter or Instagram stories. Post the link everywhere! You never know who will click it.

I stopped as I gained some weight after the baby and became self-conscious. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Now I have a toddler and I'm still chubby BUT who cares. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAUcMQkT4ykdPCettpgUjMVaIqA39MX-M9Noe-hhrFEkMa3cDePldqr4A6VatxZ5m87-O7KZinSDMznRRizMo8pPRv6pxdd22QdpuuX-HHTbt2It6iVc6sZLjS_-VwYwh4O3siaxOKF1Vocqgf0sZ_ko0t2F_5pWB3uM6KlavApJAsNhR_N1hIxGRHaw/s800/2018-03-27%2014.45.43.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="703" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAUcMQkT4ykdPCettpgUjMVaIqA39MX-M9Noe-hhrFEkMa3cDePldqr4A6VatxZ5m87-O7KZinSDMznRRizMo8pPRv6pxdd22QdpuuX-HHTbt2It6iVc6sZLjS_-VwYwh4O3siaxOKF1Vocqgf0sZ_ko0t2F_5pWB3uM6KlavApJAsNhR_N1hIxGRHaw/w351-h400/2018-03-27%2014.45.43.jpg" width="351" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">SHOW YOURSELF!</span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">You’re not always going to have help taking your pictures. If you do kudos to you. I can usually get help from my husband on the weekend but with a four-year-old and mountains of housework. It’s just works out best for me to take my own pictures throughout the day. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">One thing I’ll say about my own pictures they definitely get the job done. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here are some steps I take before I shoot my own shots. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><ol><li style="text-align: center;">Use a tripod or a ring light make sure your camera steady. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve heard or seen horror stories of cameras that are not fully mounted... fall to the floor and break. Don’t let that be you. Make sure everything is completely secure because when you’re taking your photo you probably will not be near the camera and you don’t want anything to happen to your precious investment. </li><li style="text-align: center;">Get a remote or find a Camera that allows you to do LIVE. I have the Canon. It’s a great camera that I am able to connect my phone. With that through Bluetooth - I can see myself and shoot. I can even put on a self timer and take any shots/video that I need. TIP: Shoot a little bit wider than usual. With it being wider - you can do a clean crop if needed. </li><li style="text-align: center;">Don't be shy and know your angles! Also don’t be afraid to try different looks. </li></ol><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">SHOP:</div><div class="shopthepost-widget" data-widget-id="4941641"><script type="text/javascript">!function(w,i,d,g,e,t){d.getElementById(i)||(element=d.createElement(t),element.id=i,element.src="https://widgets.rewardstyle.com"+e,d.body.appendChild(element)),w.hasOwnProperty(g)===!0&&"complete"===d.readyState&&w[g].init()}(window,"shopthepost-script",document,"__stp","/js/shopthepost.js","script")</script><div class="rs-adblock" style="text-align: center;"><img onerror="this.parentNode.innerHTML="Disable your ad blocking software to view this content."" src="https://assets.rewardstyle.com/production/4e418d43464e82e2dae3da4b95956cb8c718c40a/images/search/350.gif" style="height: 15px; width: 15px;" /><noscript>JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Ava is in Kindergarten. Yeah. I know. Time FLIES! I can’t believe some of you have been around since 2009 when I was still in college. So much Life and time has passed. I’m so grateful for all of you. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jniM7J5-UsnN9p5a4kmBFaisoDQXIRf1uCtkMypca69LAoUxYPP0n1hfq96059YTHrHxLqRoG6KP3FUyKmzB86j4c9FcN_9L_nSzVU71Lw7osZwCmBaWQ3DEDRjQSRky6yII1ykKeiUObxxDRS1378ebTPWguZxQ4szjtUF8bDYj5CrSMcYKM4tAAA/s438/canadianmomblogger.tiff" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="425" data-original-width="438" height="389" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jniM7J5-UsnN9p5a4kmBFaisoDQXIRf1uCtkMypca69LAoUxYPP0n1hfq96059YTHrHxLqRoG6KP3FUyKmzB86j4c9FcN_9L_nSzVU71Lw7osZwCmBaWQ3DEDRjQSRky6yII1ykKeiUObxxDRS1378ebTPWguZxQ4szjtUF8bDYj5CrSMcYKM4tAAA/w400-h389/canadianmomblogger.tiff" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Let me stop being sentimental for a bit!</b></span></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Every day in a mom groups somebody asks what should a child have ready for kindergarten. Such a good question... especially for me as a first time mom- I’m doing all of this from scratch. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is a nice short list of items that you will need. Feel free to add more in the comments. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> Labels:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">I prefer the ones that are already pre-made with her name but you can totally buy blank ones would you personalize. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Shoes:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Two pairs of velcro shoes for indoor. Velcro is the best for toddlers. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Less work and no help.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> Backpack:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> This one is a little bit controversial to me because I do think that a large bag is important but it shouldn’t be so large or over powers your child. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Lunch box/ bag:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> I literally have been put onto the Bento box game and I will probably never go back. I love how easy it is for me as a mom to pack her lunch. It could be your choice to put it in the backpack without a lunchbox. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>2 NUT-FREE snacks:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">A strong emphasis on the nut-free part. Think goldfish, fruit, veggies, crackers… I don’t know when I first heard nut-free I kind of started to freak out but there’s so many possibilities. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b> Reusable water bottle:</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">Preferably something that can’t be spilled and if you’re kindergarten or is like mine something where they can’t chew through the straw. Because my daughter loves to chew them… smh </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>One LARGE ziploc baggie</b></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">With a set of spare clothing to keep in a cubby (socks, seasonal pants, shirt & underwear). The fact is that accidents happen. Always good to have a back up that you can change out. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Optional <i><b>an umbrella</b></i>. I know for myself during pick up sometimes I am in a rush. Having one in their cubby might be really beneficial because then it’s not on you to have to remember to bring one. </div>Jennifer from Toronto - Spiced Beautyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10003415628022701175noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-547557664373064638.post-14398058107936753202023-01-17T13:30:00.001-05:002023-01-17T13:30:00.191-05:00Three Quick Ways To Make Mom Friends <div style="text-align: center;">Friendships can be tricky, especially when you are an introverted mom. Or just quiet in general. Though it's NOT that hard for everyone to new people... hello extroverts! Before becoming a mother- I kept my circle small, but after having Ava it got smaller. It's important that I make friends who have children that Ava can play with. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEtgivAbpGLcHmZCgVPgqdIVqTDE6UJ4UvLqBkb_Lm7SWFs6aWz5RBOIgM7QVl3zWd1ugaiQj8glUe6atLNVgzSHyNnNTGCZA_d4Z-68o7XACfGJ7Xvg6vqP_HrG1E7JKrbwbQHC-FCWZztvYd7DrWga2egUoSGuotR77iy83H1gfTN8w1LYdatNNuGg/s5184/mom%20friends.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5184" data-original-width="3456" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEtgivAbpGLcHmZCgVPgqdIVqTDE6UJ4UvLqBkb_Lm7SWFs6aWz5RBOIgM7QVl3zWd1ugaiQj8glUe6atLNVgzSHyNnNTGCZA_d4Z-68o7XACfGJ7Xvg6vqP_HrG1E7JKrbwbQHC-FCWZztvYd7DrWga2egUoSGuotR77iy83H1gfTN8w1LYdatNNuGg/w266-h400/mom%20friends.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Here Are Some Ways You Can TRY to Make New Mom Friends </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span><a name='more'></a></span></div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b> 1. Attend School Events</b></span></div><div>Your child's school is an ideal place to make mom friends. You can chat with the other moms at drop-offs and birthday parties and get to know them. NOTE** Sad fact that every mom at school doesn't want to be friends but please don't take it personally**. The cutest situation happened recently where a mom sent a handwritten note home with my daughter to plan a playdate. Love that confidence! We had it last week and it was a lot of fun. I think I'm going to do the same idea with another mom in her class. It's fun and get to know one another better- while hopefully gaining another friend.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>2. Join Facebook Groups</b></span></div><div>When you are online next, look up the local mom groups on Facebook. Find which groups are relevant and join. Become an active member. Try NOT to lurk. Find people that resonate with your ideas and energy. I have connected with some cool moms on there. While we haven't spent time together- it's lovely to have a community of people around you.</div><div><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><b>3. Sign Your Child Up For Extracurricular Activities</b></span></div><div>So far I have signed Ava up for two dance classes. This wasn’t my path… I always thought I’d be 9-5 or on set girlie. But as soon as I got a taste of at home life- I literally fell in LOVE. Especially during pregnancy and after having Ava. Being able to pick her up and or/ drop her off at school or daycare is dream. Also being at home with her until she was 3.9 months. So unheard of. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz36fcYzQF-QIVxJQ9tZvB3gOIWq680aUDRnRbCtfI050nc8W_-LCtL2CQ2vNVMK2p1qn9JQHzbxHxGM0urYiHwzj8-UipsFgSYqrzEi6T8LrXQCzpUY2yBDjg-Tb3-DtLB9vEOv0WMGFnltTBG7LN0BTSsHV05jphPlFvHvv33XylhY_A-Y162FXm-Q/s640/Canadian%20mom%20blogger.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="428" data-original-width="640" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz36fcYzQF-QIVxJQ9tZvB3gOIWq680aUDRnRbCtfI050nc8W_-LCtL2CQ2vNVMK2p1qn9JQHzbxHxGM0urYiHwzj8-UipsFgSYqrzEi6T8LrXQCzpUY2yBDjg-Tb3-DtLB9vEOv0WMGFnltTBG7LN0BTSsHV05jphPlFvHvv33XylhY_A-Y162FXm-Q/w400-h268/Canadian%20mom%20blogger.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Now that she's older- possibly being able to volunteer at school...something I always wanted my mom to do but she wasn’t able to because of work. All pros. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Biggest con for me is taxes. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Legit gives me anxiety and a major stomach ache. Get a good accountant, if you can. Plus spending enough money to make sure you’re getting paid at the end of the year instead of shelling out money. This is a whole other conversation. But message me -if you want to know more.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><b><span style="color: red;"> Three ways I’m going to switch up my at home experience this year. </span></b></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> Trying a co-working space </span></div><div style="text-align: center;">I don’t really miss being in the office but I can’t lie. There are one or two times where I feel like I want to change up my location. I know a coffee shop is a great example but I thought maybe a co-working space might be cool too. If I’m in the mood… It gives me the opportunity to network with others. But if I don’t feel like going, I don’t have to go. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"> Send my invoices on time </span></div><div style="text-align: center;">LOL
I know. Not even going to go into detail about this. Just being more organized on my phone will definitely help me with this. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Cute Stationary</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"> This one is a little tricky, but just getting more items that make my life easier. With the weather changing- Question do you do the same thing with your self care products? For example do you switch your pinks to deep rich reds or do you switch your shampoos/conditioners to something lighter to handle the heat. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidmj-9ISiIQ6wKaXEG_qKMq0TqEGsEQ-Z5sGdeo-wz_41eZVrXnOubtSdVzzExAFcohV3LfQ0xjVG2f08y-A11dUeA9cPQQH9Oj5Lwooadb-LWd-tUsFRz4OEZjHIxYnr48fbRWPWnnp9bpA3nq3E5Xu59FTPRZqpPr6UhoH0KxLe6kvtGAapA-towNw/s800/Maybelline%20SuperStay%20Vinyl%20Ink%20Liquid%20Lipstick.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidmj-9ISiIQ6wKaXEG_qKMq0TqEGsEQ-Z5sGdeo-wz_41eZVrXnOubtSdVzzExAFcohV3LfQ0xjVG2f08y-A11dUeA9cPQQH9Oj5Lwooadb-LWd-tUsFRz4OEZjHIxYnr48fbRWPWnnp9bpA3nq3E5Xu59FTPRZqpPr6UhoH0KxLe6kvtGAapA-towNw/s320/Maybelline%20SuperStay%20Vinyl%20Ink%20Liquid%20Lipstick.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I found a product that I'm currently obsessed with from Maybelline!</span></div>
<span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>
In the colder months, I tend to jump for a matte lip more than in the Summer. <div>Mostly because:<div><br /></div><div>1. I have to do less applying! I truly don’t have time to be going into my purse and reapplying all the time.</div><div>2. It just lasts longer!</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">But what if I told you that I found a product that has 16 hours of wear! PLUS plus has the shine of a gloss!</div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm so happy that we can products like this in Canada! Usually I'd have to go to Ulta for these gems.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Maybelline SuperStay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipstick</div><div class="shopthepost-widget" data-widget-id="4883391"><script type="text/javascript">!function(w,i,d,g,e,t){d.getElementById(i)||(element=d.createElement(t),element.id=i,element.src="https://widgets.rewardstyle.com"+e,d.body.appendChild(element)),w.hasOwnProperty(g)===!0&&"complete"===d.readyState&&w[g].init()}(window,"shopthepost-script",document,"__stp","/js/shopthepost.js","script")</script><div class="rs-adblock"><img onerror="this.parentNode.innerHTML="Disable your ad blocking software to view this content."" src="https://assets.rewardstyle.com/production/758f49dc51189befd7ec513a0d5e6b380413022e/images/search/350.gif" style="height: 15px; width: 15px;" /><noscript>JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. If you can- It's always best to shop in bulk. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">That's my mommy blogger tip for you! They are low in calories and have a good amount of water and soluble fibres, making them great for hydration in the body.
I know Ava doesn't care about drinking enough water. So this is the best way to sneak some extra in.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Watermelon </span></div><div style="text-align: center;">All kids often love watermelons. Just some quick facts! Watermelon has vitamin C, which the body requires to produce more collagen. Collagen is important for immune function and cell structure.
Vitamin C also helps in wound healing and gives us healthy skin. Plus it tastes so damn good. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"> Grapes </span></div><div>You can add grapes to your kid's lunch boxes, and they will surely eat them. Apparently they're great for maintaining brain health. Don't forget to cut them first!
